King’s College London has disciplined more students than most other British universities for their involvement in pro-Palestine protests. The university, which has ties to the defense industry, has faced scrutiny for its handling of student activism. At least 26 students have faced disciplinary investigations between October 2023 and November 2025 for engaging in pro-Palestine activities, marking the highest number among British campuses. One such student, Khadija*, was banned from attending her lecturer’s classes and ordered to write a 2,000-word reflective essay after making comments about her lecturer’s background in the Israeli army. She was also considered for referral to the UK government’s Prevent programme, which has been criticized for disproportionately targeting Muslims and lacking transparency. Khadija’s case highlights the university’s stringent measures against students expressing support for Palestine. Protests at King’s College London have included marches, wearing Palestinian scarves, and displaying images of suffering in Gaza. The university’s actions have drawn criticism from rights groups, who argue that such disciplinary measures suppress free speech and target Muslim students.
